Our success is built on a foundation of core values that guide every project and every team member: Integrity, Passion for Service, Solving Smart, Quality Without Compromise, Adapting & Overcoming, and Owning It.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an independent, detail-oriented Contract Phase I ESA Assessor to join our network of environmental professionals. This role is ideal for self-motivated individuals with experience in environmental consulting who prefer flexible, project-based work. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate professional who is eager to accelerate their career by taking on diverse responsibilities and challenging projects after establishing the basics with Phase I ESAs. You will be an integral part of our team, working on Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulated sites, with a focus on the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) and Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) projects in a short time.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527-21 and EPA All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI) standards.
  • Perform site inspections to document current/past property conditions, adjacent land uses, and potential environmental concerns (e.g., RECs, HRECs, CRECs).
  • Research and analyze historical records, including aerial photos, Sanborn maps, city directories, and regulatory databases (e.g., state environmental agencies, EPA EDR reports).
  • Prepare clear, concise, and compliant Phase I ESA reports, including site diagrams, photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with clients, project managers, and regulatory agencies as needed to clarify findings or request additional data.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 0-1+ years of experience conducting/writing Phase I ESAs (freelance or firm experience accepted).
  • Familiarity with ASTM E1527-21 standards and common environmental databases (e.g., EDR, GeoSearch, state vapor encroachment tools).
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear reports.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally/regionally for site visits.
  • Self-sufficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF editors.

Preferred Skills

  • OSHA 10-Hour HAZWOPER certification (not required but a plus).
  • Experience with Phase II ESA support (e.g., reviewing lab data, conceptual site models).
  • Knowledge of state-specific environmental regulations.
